02 / A TYPICAL SESSION
How a session flows.
A typical athlete session moves from preparation into speed, jumping, and strength work. Exercise difficulty and the emphasis of the lift change with the athlete’s development and training phase.
Prepare to move
We start with foam rolling and soft-tissue work, followed by active stretches for the areas involved in the day’s workout.
Dynamic warm-up
A short dynamic warm-up gets athletes moving before the faster work begins.
Speed and agility
We work on acceleration, deceleration, changes of direction, and reactive work.
Plyometrics and jump testing
We incorporate extensive and intensive plyometrics, including single-leg, two-leg, and lateral movements.
Strength training
Our lift usually lasts 30–35 minutes, with the focus shaped by the athlete’s training phase, sport, and time of year.
Conditioning or recovery
When time allows, we add conditioning or recovery work based on the athlete’s training phase and whether they are in season or off season.
The sequence gives sessions structure without making every workout identical. Training phases change based on where athletes are in their development.
